I am excited to let you know about my upcoming trip to Ethiopia from May 31st through July 2nd. Over three years have passed since I was able to walk the familiar streets of Soddo (pictured above). What a joy it will be to reunite with our staff, who are like family to me.

It is a day of celebration when the community and local church come together to build a house for one of our neediest widows. Mossy Foot provides a carpenter to coordinate the building and we pay for the needed building materials.

Yes, Ethiopia celebrated the beginning of the New Year of 2014 in September. Ethiopia is one of the few countries in the world with its own calendar, using the Gregorian calendar rather than the Julian calendar that we follow in the Western world.
