Stepping Up To Help In The Pandemic
Zebdewos helps carry a box of donated children’s shoes
As it seems to have done everywhere, the Coronavirus pandemic has begun reaching into the nations of Africa. Ethiopia currently has 74 reported cases and the government is taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease and protect the vulnerable.
In Wolaitta, one step that is being taken locally is to find shelter for children who are currently homeless on the streets. This effort has required the cooperation of many groups to provide items needed to house and care for the children, as well as provide a feeding program.
Mossy Foot Project was able to come alongside the local government effort by providing 500 pairs of children’s shoes, 500 bars of soap, and 10 litters of medical grade alcohol. The Project was commended publicly by the Wolaita Sodo City Chief Administrator for their generous participation.

City officials express gratitude for the contributions of Mossy Foot Project
The government has also approached Zebdewos Getahun, the Mossy Foot Project Country Director, with requests for help educating people in the rural areas about the risks of the coronavirus and ways they can help prevent its spread. Mossy Foot Project is ideally suited for this since it has community workers at 16 rural clinics that are already trained in healthcare issues.
We are grateful for all those who have given to the project so that we can be of help in the frontlines of reducing the impact of the pandemic in Ethiopia.
