How precious is the Hope we have in God especially this Christmas as so many have encountered difficult trials this year.

I would like to share with you a story of Hope for a young girl named Tigist who lived far to the south of where our Mossy Foot work is located. Her feet had swollen badly and become quite grotesque. As far as she knew, there was no hope for her condition. Tigist was ostracized, shunned by her friends, and had to drop out of school.

A neighbor’s relative came to visit from Sodo, where our headquarters are located. Seeing Tigist’s condition, she had pity and shared about the Mossy Foot Project where people like her were being successfully treated.

Tigist’s father took her on the bus to Sodo to be treated at our clinic. While she was there, a group of Dutch doctors were making a documentary about our clinic work and Tigist was featured in the film. Recently, these doctors wanted to give a gift to Tigist and her family to assist them.

Zebdewos, our Country Director, managed to locate Tigist in the distant area of Gofa and decided to take a treatment team with him to deliver the gift. Tigist and her family were elated to receive this unexpected and much needed help.

Our clinic team encountered many people suffering with mossy foot disease in this area and the team treated patients, taught them about basic health, and shared the good news of Jesus. One of the patients they treated was Tigist’s uncle, so the Hopeshe received has now spread throughout her village.

Tigist sits next to her uncle, who now has hope for treatment also.

Tigist’s uncle receives treatment and instruction in foot care.

We are so grateful for the generous response to the Mossy Foot Christmas catalog. My heart is happy knowing how much these gifts will help and bless our patients. Our gift catalog is available online if you would like to choose a gift that will bring hope to those still without it.

We rejoice this Christmas! Even though many circumstances have changed, we rest in the assurance that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is Immanuel, God with us, the God of all Hope.

With much gratitude from us, the staff, and the patients,

Mossy Foot President
