Update from Ethiopia

Mossy Foot Project president Sharon Daly is currently  in Ethiopia for a two month visit. The following is her latest report on project activities.

It is always such a joy for me to be here and to reconnect with the Mossy Foot Project workers and friends that I have come to know over the years.

We are now in the middle of the rainy season. Each day brings thunderous downpours interspersed with overcast skies and sunshine. Everything is green and beautiful and many flowers are blooming.

But there is little time to enjoy nature…we have been very busy. In the past few weeks we have visited all the clinics, given out shoes to children of mossy foot patients, and have met with two widows with mossy foot who desperately need better housing. We have already started construction on a house for Ookoomee. Here is her current house on the left with huge holes in the sides. New construction has started and soon she will have a new sturdy home with a metal roof to keep out the rain.

Two houses

The pictures below provide an overview of this month’s activities. We are in great need of more funding to treat patients and build homes. We have 13 widows on the waiting list for new homes. As you look at these pictures, would you consider how you might be able to help?
