Sharon Daly has been in Ethiopia for three weeks on her current visit. Her traveling companion on this trip, Vera Chosenko, is just now flying home and Sharon will be in Ethiopia for a two more weeks. Sharon is grateful for the timing of Vera’s visit. Her skills in Quick Books and in managing computer record keeping have been a tremendous help in streamlining the local office operation. Kaleb, the Mossy Foot Project accountant, is now well versed in Quick Books and more effective business processes.
Last weekend, twenty-five people including 5 Mossy Foot Project staff were able to attend a three-day training on disabilities presented by Diana Mood and Terry Wallace, two friends from the US that work with an organization focused on serving the disabled in Africa. The Mossy Foot staff that participated were profoundly impacted by the training and are now equipped to train others. Sharon reports that she has had good planning sessions with staff. Yoseph Menna, the new National Representative/Executive Director for the Mossy Foot Project in Ethiopia, is growing in his knowledge and is committed to training the staff. This is resulting in a new sense of unity and purpose to serving those in need.
This weekend, Yoseph and Sharon attended a meeting in Addis Ababa. At the meeting, the Ethiopian Ministry of Health explained the current policies for NGOs working in health-related activities. Sharon is pleased to report that Mossy Foot Project is already almost fully compliant with the recommendations. Sharon had one special praise report. In her words:
On the way to Addis we were discussing the need for new tires for our vehicles. Yesterday I found out that a donor had purchased tires for the vehicle from the our gift catalog.
If you haven’t had a chance to check our our catalog, it is a wonderful way to bring the true spirit of charity into your celebrations. Thank you for your interest in and support for the work of the Mossy Foot Project.
